The Imperfect Player — Perfect For You And Me.

Improvement tends to strive towards perfection. Humans like perfection, its idea. But its reality is usually different from what our minds tend to preview, and suddenly, the “previous” perfection does not seem perfect anymore, but instead becomes a dystopia. Everything seems horrible, and you change it up again. The cycle repeats, and it never seems to end. Are we doomed?

Football runs the same. And maybe, the solution is imperfection. I’ve seen a few accounts running on Twitter, complaining about ‘the lack of entertainment’, claiming that ‘football fell off’. Others have contracted Football Depression since the end of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, as ‘nothing hits the same anymore’. And maybe, the solution is in diversifying your football habits.

There is not anything wrong in watching elite teams. Most of football fans expect the best of the best, and most of the media will only talk about the biggest teams (Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool in England, Barcelona, Real and Atlético de Madrid in Spain). But very few talk about…the rest of the teams. Is it fair, to pretend to be knowledgeable on a specific competition, while only watching less than a third of its teams? How many of ‘La Liga’ or ‘EPL’ fans watch the likes of Mallorca, Las Palmas or Luton and Burnley. Rapidly, you realize what you’ve…
