Everyday is a new struggle. The worker attempts his best, but there is only so much he can accomplish in an labor day. Perfectionism strikes humanity is the inevitable dilemma, despite its imperfect nature. Many dream of utopias, with unrealistic perfectionism shaping daily lives. However, it also leads to one’s own destruction. A Cornelian Dilemma?

Football did not escape the Cornelian Dilemma. If anything, it embodies it perfectly. Managers draw plans, players play a different reality. Called a probability game by many, the football puzzle does not dice with what has been drawn on the tactics board by the managers in the pre-game talk. Beauty and a curse for many, the unpredictability of the human character, the freedom of choice that does not take in account rationality or probability models, leads to outcomes that models never saw coming.

Arsenal’s 1–0 victory against Manchester City provided further insights in the perfectionism utopia. A utopia that revealed itself a dystopia for many. If you scrolled past your twitter timeline during and after the game, there are not many positive comments. ‘Boring’, ‘robotic’ is what you could find, instead of praise. And yet, the players did not play badly. Yes. Manchester City missed Rodri and Kevin de Bruyne, and Arsenal missed Saka.
